Intouch came in to existence as a result of alliance between “Phones R Us” and “Wireless World”. Two strong wireless retail players in the New York Metro market. Wireless World at the time had a strong presence with 9 locations in high profile commuter areas of Manhattan whereas Phones R Us catered to the suburban population of New York and had 8 locations in Westchester, New Jersey and Queens.

INTOUCH – THE WIRELESS PROFESSIONALS (“Intouch”) was founded in 1998 to provide emerging wireless solutions to end consumers, while providing a challenging work environment that attracts the best wireless professionals. Intouch’s goal was to be one of the fastest growing retail wireless chains in the Tristate area with 30 retail stores and a strategic initiative to expand its footprint into the underserved rural markets by 2003.

In 2001, Intouch acquired a failing retailer with 3 locations in Upstate NY market. These locations thrived under Intouch’s ownership. Intouch’s belief in Investing on Human Capital, solid operating standards and developing customer centric approach in these stores were instrumental in this resounding success. This brought us the recognition we needed from the carriers that we partnered with and they showered many such opportunities our way. Later in 2001, Intouch successfully expanded to NJ, CT and Washington DC.

In 2002 and 2003, Intouch made various small acquisitions and grew organically to get to 30 locations in the Northeast. We also took this time to perfect ourselves with training, tweaking our operations and gaining experience and wisdom in managing stores remotely. We feel that this time invested in our systems and operations put us in the enviable position as the company to go to when you need a “bailout”.

In 2004, we acquired another failing retailer with 12 locations in CT, MA, NH & ME on a 3 day lead time. Within 3 months we were able to turn these stores into profit and the sales spiked 400%. During the same month, Intouch opened 6 new locations in Nebraska market.

In 2005 and 2006, we establish stronger foothold by opening additional locations in our existing markets such as CT, MA, DC Metro, Upstate NY and Nebraska.

In 2007, we committed to opening Florida with 6 new locations. We also, acquired another failing retailer with 19 locations in WA, MN and PA. This time around the focus was on acquiring quality retail with strong presence in B2B segment. Once again, the acquisition was very successful and Intouch tweaked many policies to accommodate the needs of our newly acquired B2B team members.

In 2008, we have been focusing on improving quality and maintaining our position as the “value providers” to our carriers. We have opened 7 new locations this year and are waiting for the right opportunities to gain more prominent footprint in the national arena of wireless retail. We are currently at 70 locations in 12 different states, employing over 400 of the most talented professionals in the wireless industry. Since the start of our company we have serviced over 1 million customers.

As part of our five year plan, we expect to leverage our unique strengths and core values to expand grow to 200 locations across 25 states. This plan, while ambitious, is attainable through our commitment to our customers, our clients, employees and the carriers. Our core principles, enumerated below, will only help to strengthen our resolve and hasten the attainment of our goals.
